Technical insertion/extraction 1 | A basic rappelling course designed to familiarize tactical team members with negotiating both vertical and horizontal obstacles. Students will learn basic rope handling and knots. Standard and Australian (assault) rappelling are taught with emphasis on learning proper technique. Horizontal traversing using a one-rope bridge concludes this 10-Hour course.

Technical insertion/extraction 2 | An advanced 8-hour course designed to prepare tactical team members for operational readiness. Students are taught advanced rope handling and knots with emphasis on properly anchoring lines and rescue belays. Students will apply hostage extraction and buddy-rappel techniques. The proper use of belay devices (stitch plates, figure-8’s as belay plates) and team belay methods are covered. The final portion of the class deals with rescue traversing (rope bridges).

Administrative Plans, Policies and Procedures for Sniper team Employment | This 6-hour course is designed to instruct sniper team supervisors and administrative personnel in the training, equipping, development, and proper employment of Marksman/Observer team. Operational capabilities and limitations are explained and discussed in an open forum format. Standard operating procedures, Standards of care, and Use of Force case law is discussed with an emphasis on liability reduction.

Workplace Violence Prevention | An 8 hour class on workplace violence and active shooter incidents that have occurred. Emergency response plan development and reaction training are emphasized along with evacuation drills. |
Active Shooter Training | This one day 10 hour course covers the history of today’s active shooter incidents with a thorough look at psychological trigger events, suspect actions and Law Enforcement response. In depth analysis of over 40 incidents Including Columbine, Port Arthur Tasmania, Virginia Tech, Jonesboro Arkansas, and others. New strategies for mitigating loss, and prevention will be discussed. Active shooter protocol and Contact Team/Designated Contact Officer (DCO) development are emphasized.
This course is free to School district personnel and School Security and School Police Officers.

Tactical Handgun Course | This 8 hour course is designed to elevate basic shooting skills to the point that the student is comfortable operating in a high stress tactical environment. Course topics cover Loading and unloading, use of cover, movement, weapons retention, immediate action drills (stoppages, reloading), and proper carry and presentation of the weapon from both concealed carry and duty rigs. Students will fire a qualification string with their weak hand. Students must bring duty Handgun, 3 Magazines/Speedloaders, Holster, Eye and Ear protection, a handheld high intensity flashlight if one is not mounted on the weapon, and 200 Rds of factory ammunition. Knee and elbow pads are strongly recommended. Glock Handguns and holsters are available for rent and Ammunition is available for purchase. Tactical Shotgun Course | This 8 hour course covers the basic knowledge required to effectively employ the tactical shotgun. Topics covered include: Safely Loading and Unloading, Use of cover and concealment, Proper operation of Pump and Semi-Auto mechanisms, immediate action drills (stoppages, reloading), and proper carry. Students must bring Tactical shotgun (12 or 20 Gauge) with sling, eye and ear protection, a handheld high intensity flashlight if one is not mounted on the weapon, 50 rounds of Buckshot (#2 through 00) and 20 rounds of slug. No Low Impulse ammunition will be allowed. Knee and Elbow pads are strongly recommended. This course meets OPNAV Inst. 3591.1(F) Requirements for all Shotgun Qualifications (SAAMI, SPWC, and Lowlight Qualification) Remmington 11-87 (Semi-Auto) and Remmington 870 (Pump) shotguns are available for rent and ammunition is available for purchase from LRI.

Patrol Rifle Operators Course | This 16 hour two day class covers the effective employment of the patrol rifle in a close contact environment. Students will be exposed to the mechanics of the M-16/AR-15/M-4 platform weapons, including field stripping and cleaning. Basic rifle marksmanship, including firing from all positions (Prone, Sitting, Kneeling, Standing, and firing during movement) will be covered. Academics will include Ballistics, Caliber and bullet considerations including familiarization with Submachine guns, effects of wind and weather, and Liability. Students must bring a .223 Caliber or other comparable Semi-Auto rifle with sling, 3 Magazines, eye and ear protection, a handheld high intensity flashlight if one is not mounted to the weapon, and 120 Rds of factory Ammunition. Rifles are available for rent and Ammunition is available for purchase from LRI but quantities are limited. This class meets all Requirements for OPNAV 3591.1 (F) for rifle Qualifications (SAAMI and Lowlight Quals)

Executive Protection Agent Course | This class is designed to provide a working knowledge of the duties and expectations of an EP agent. A 5 day 60 hour course, the days are long and hard. The Physical fitness of the students will be tested. Counter-surveillance measures and detection are taught as well as close protection duties. Standard Operating Procedures and emergency planning as well as Local Law Enforcement Coordination are taught. Other subject areas include: proper dress for plainclothes operations, Communications, Escort formations, and Client preparation. Students will participate in action scenarios with role playing actors to accomplish a variety of simulated close protection missions. Students will use simunitions for close combat training. Students will spend one day on the range for situational shooting. Students must bring Duty weapon with concealment holster, 3 magazines/Speedloaders, eye and ear protection, a high intensity handheld flashlight, 120 Rds of factory ammunition. Executive Protection Counter Assault Team Course | This 4 day 50 hour course is designed to prepare the Executive Protection Agent to perform as a member of a Counter Assault Team (CAT). Subject matter will include Structure penetration for Principal Recovery, tactical movement of the principal in a high threat environment, High risk entry techniques, An orientation into mechanical and explosive breaching, Long Rifle support, and vehicle extraction. Students will participate in real life role playing scenarios using simunitions with actors and other role players. Students must bring Tactical duty holster, duty weapon, 3 Magazines/Speedloaders, Tactical raid vest, Ballistic vest, High intensity handheld flashlight, Utility clothing, Knee and Elbow pads, 120 Rds of factory ammunition.

Improvised Explosive Device recognition Course | This one day 8 hour course is designed to teach the student to recognize IED’s and Boobytraps. Students will learn by constructing mock devices (no explosives) and initiating them. Activation methods taught will cover Mechanical, Chemical, and Electrical. Photo displays of actual recovered devices and hands on construction is designed to give the student a working knowledge of IED capabilities. Other devices covered include chemical attack devices (Draino Bombs) and area denial devices. |
Marksman Observers Course | This 10-hour course is designed to train tactical team members in the operational role of the Marksman Observer. Due to the nature of critical incidents, Law Enforcement Snipers are often deployed with whatever personnel are available. This course covers Observer duties, Actions at the final firing point, Range and Wind estimation, Range cards, Data books, the proper use of Laser and Optical range finders, and the employment of Optics (Binoculars, Spotting scopes). Students are taught the essential elements of intelligence gathering and communications.

Camouflage, Stalking, and Observation Course | This intense 4-day, 40 hour course is designed to teach tactical team members both theory and application in these three critical skill areas. Students will construct their own Ghillie suit from materials provided by LRI. Proper movement and stalking techniques are emphasized. Hide selection and construction are practiced. The Observation topics include: Intelligence gathering, Engagement plans and SOP’s, Range and Wind estimation, the use of Range finders (both Optical and Laser), and Communications.

Hostage Rescue Sniper Course | This 5-day, 64 hour course is designed specifically to elevate critical sniper skills in the areas of fieldcraft, Marksmanship, and Tactics. The course is physically demanding, with students being required to participate in physical training on a daily basis. The course covers Team equipment, the effects of wind and weather, Range and Wind estimation, Angular shooting, Long distance shooting (to 300 Yds.), Night operations, Camouflage, Stalking, and Observation. This is not a sustained fire course, each student will concentrate on properly engaging single targets, with in depth analysis of each shot. Justification of sight adjustments and proper documentation are emphasized. Students will construct their own Ghillie suits from materials provided by LRI. Students must bring Sniper rifle with 200 Rds. Of Match ammunition and a .223 open sight rifle with 200 Rds. Of factory ammunition.
